‘Shame on Him’: Homan Hits Back at Minneapolis Mayor Over Immigration Policy Feud With Trump

Former acting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Tom Homan is slamming the Minneapolis mayor for his immigration policies.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (D) didn’t keep silent about his criticism of the president prior to President Donald Trump’s visit to the city on Thursday night.

Trump promised to “give local communities a greater say in refugee policy and put in place enhanced vetting and responsible immigration control” during his 2020 reelection campaign rally.

In a tweet, Frey pushed back on the president regarding immigrants and refugees.

Homan hit back at Frey during Friday’s “Fox & Friends” interview, as he said, “The mayor needs to remember who he works for.”

Homan continued, “He is not a dictator. He works for the taxpayers of that city and the taxpayers have the right to decide.”

Citing that he’s made the same message clear to another Democratic leader, Homan said:

“Shame on him. I would tell him the same thing I told Representative [Pramila] Jayapal (D-Wash.). They work for us, but they forget that.”

Frey dedicated Thursday as “Love Trump’s Hate” day in the city as a protest of Trump’s visit.

“Minneapolis is built on, and propelled forward by, a commitment to inclusion. […] The people of Minneapolis will not be baited by voices that promote conflict and intolerance,” Frey wrote in a proclamation, according to Fox 9.

Ahead of Thursday’s rally, Frey butt heads with the president’s reelection campaign, as he told them to make the security payment – of $530,000 — prior to the event, or else they couldn’t have access to the facility.

Frey also made known that his city will “stand not behind the President, but behind the communities and people who continue to make or city — and this country — great.”

As IJR previously reported, the mayor, along with the Minneapolis police chief, told police officers that they weren’t allowed to wear there uniforms to political events any longer. That didn’t stop the law enforcement officials, as they sold “Cops for Trump” t-shirts to wear instead.

It sounds like a place to stay away from. Hate, its what the Democrats offer. They remind me of the Nazis.
